TAKING CARE OF YOUR “OCEAN JEWEL”• After purchasing your necklace, it is important to care for it properly to keep it supple and comfortable. Many types of leather & suede necklaces cannot tolerate moisture and should not come in contact with water or worn on hot days when perspiration can affect their durability.  BIJEAU – Stone & Bone Jewellery uses only high-quality leather & suede. Ours can take some moisture, so wear it while using your judgement.

Special tips for leather care

Remember, leather & suede are a natural material and should not be stored in plastic. This encourages mildew.

It is not recommended to wear this piece of Jewellery while taking a shower or swimming in a swimming pool or the ocean. Chlorine is a chemical that damages leather, suede, ultra suede and cotton. Saltwater leaves a white residue when it dries and it often crystallizes.  This can render your necklace brittle and it will eventually break.

Think what happens to your leather boots in the winter, when they get in contact with salt and snow. If the leather or suede band gets wet (from pool or ocean water and perspiration), wipe it with a soft, damp cloth, then towel-dry it and let it dry in a cool place out of the sun.

Special tips for stone, bone & shell care

All the BIJEAU Jewellery pieces are coated with a special acrylic spray to preserve their natural beauty. It is therefore not necessary to clean or polish them.
